Process Overview

1. Groundwork Preparation

The project began with removing the old driveway, this involved clearing debris, broken materials and any overgrown vegetation. This step creating a blank slate and ensured that there was no weak or unstable sections left that could impact the durability of the new surface. After clearing, the area was carefully leveled to guarantee a uniform base, essential for preventing uneven surfaces or pooling issues in the future. Particular attention was given to grading the surface, which involves creating a slight slope to direct water flow away from the property.

2. Sub-base Installation

For the sub-base, a high-quality, permeable material designed for resin-bound systems, was used. This layer was crucial to ensuring the driveway could handle the weight of vehicles and foot traffic while maintaining its structural integrity over time. The permeable sub-base also plays a key role in sustainable drainage, allowing water to filter through and reduce surface runoff, this is especially beneficial during heavy rainfall. To guarantee the sub-base was fully compacted and evenly distributed, we used special compaction machinery, making sure of a rock solid foundation for the resin application.

3. Resin Mixing and Application

The resin-bound surface was created by mixing the premium resin with carefully selected natural stone aggregates. Each aggregate batch was mixed to to precise ratios, ensuring a consistent texture and colour across the whole driveway. The mixture was applied using specialised equipment to create a seamless, even surface. Particular care was taken around the edges and borders to ensure clean, sharp lines that enhance the overall appeal of the driveway. The central surface was smoothed and compacted while preserving its permeability, allowing water to drain effectively. 

4. Finishing Touches

After the resin layer was laid, it was allowed to fully cure, a process that ensures the surface achieves maximum strength and durability. While it was curing, regular checks were conducted to confirm there were no air pockets, uneven sections or imperfections. The surrounding landscaping was also addressed, with edges and borders neatly integrated into the design using the brick border that complements the warm tones of the resin. Lastly, the entire site was cleaned and polished, leaving the property looking perfect. The homeowners were thrilled with their new driveway.
