Process Overview
1. Site Preparation and Clearing
The first step was the clear the original patio, which included removing the moss-infested concrete. We cleaned and excavated the area to prepare a solid and level base, this ensured the new patio would remain stable and durable over time.
2. Creating a Strong Foundation
To guarantee the longevity of the new patio, we installed a high-quality MOT Type 1 sub-base, compacted to provide a firm and even foundation. This was a crucial step in order to prevent future movement and ensure a perfectly level surface for the stone slabs.
3. Laying the Indian Sandstone Slabs
The homeowners chose beautiful Indian sandstone slabs in a multi-tonal blend that offers a stunning visual effect. The slabs were precisely laid on a full mortar bed, making sure each stone was firmly fixed and properly aligned. The pattern of the slabs was carefully designed with gentle curves and straight edges to perfectly integrate with the surrounding landscape.
4. Grouting and Finishing
Once all the slabs were securely laid, a high-quality resin jointing compound was applied to fill the gaps between the stones. This steps ensured a strong and weather-resistant finish while also preventing weed growth. To complete the project, the entire patio was thoroughly cleaned and sealed, enhancing the natural colours of the sandstone and providing additional protection against the elements.
